OKay.. this one is random and I do not understand this one
ltkw about 15 years ago
you just need to know that pearls before swine (another great comic, btw) has loads of bad puns, similar to the one jasonâd set up.

Hereâs Billâs blog post:
âStephan Pastis sometimes does this sort of extreme rhyming in Pearls Before Swine and it seemed like a fun thing for Jason to try. The ânoodle incidentâ was a never-explained event occasionally referred to in Calvin and Hobbes.â
http://www.foxtrot.com/2009/12/12062009/
Todayâs rhyming pun in Pearls is âDunk rye for me, Arch and Tinaâ (say it out loud fast).

Bill and Stephan musta planned todayâs strips for sureâŠ.

Ordway to C&H, Ixnay to Pearls!
Kamino Neko about 15 years ago
Way more ambitious than anything Stephanâs gone for.
But thatâs Jason for you.
masul about 15 years ago
Since years, I want to know what the ânoodle incidentâ was. Jason pleeeaase tell!
anne-marie hunter about 15 years ago
knowing Calvin, it is far better to let your imagination run with the ideaâŠ..
jsheehan223 about 15 years ago
Stephan does a great job with those puns/rhymes. He even makes fun of himself when he does it, too. Rat usually always goes into his office and tell him that heâs going to slap him or something. Pearls is one of my favorite strips as of late.
gtsagan about 15 years ago
This is what comics call a labored gag.

Which was Bill Wattersonâs point when he set up that gag in C & H. Nobody knows what the ânoodle incidentâ was, precisely so it COULD be left to the readers to imagine it for themselves.
Potrzebie about 15 years ago
Well Calvin did give a pumpkin a lobotomy when he carved a joack-o-lantern. And Hobbes almost fainted.
I suspect PBS is going to have an increased readership now. Good for SP. He has been complaining lately about the death of newspapers and hence his readers.
celeconecca about 15 years ago
I wish PBS was on this site, along with several others I have to go off-site to see.
The Old Wolf about 15 years ago
Nice of Bill to give Stephan a nod, both strips are superb. This oneâs a groaner, thoughâŠ
cleokaya about 15 years ago
Good one Jason.

Just how long did Bill sit on this particular literary egg before he hatched it?

If youâre tired of the horrible slowness of Comics.com, try Yahoo comics instead:

They have no evidence it was me! I still want to know what it is.

Tskoge: while weâre on that subject⊠about eight years ago I was visiting Ireland and saw a bus-stop ad for microwave breakfast sausage. The ad showed a vaguely South-American-looking guy holding a sausage and singing, flanked by two busty women holding skillets. The slogan across the bottom of the sign readâŠ
âDonât Fry For Me, Marge and Tinaâ

@Ushindi Re: comics.com slowness
Comics.com did a hardware upgrade or something about two-three weeks ago. Itâs way better now.
Iâm not saying comics.com is now as good as GoComics, but if you havenât been there recently, give it another try.

From âCalvin and Hobbes,â it makes you wonder what WAS the so-called ânoodle incidentâ from that story. Unbelieveable that Mr. Amend remembered that from Mr. Watterson.
bmonk about 15 years ago
Thereâs always âHamster Hewie and the Gooey KablooeyââŠ

The Pearls reference is nice. Makes me think of:
âDonât cry for me Barbara Streisand! The truth is I neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeever liked you!â
Jason is good. But can he do Tarzanâs Tripes Forever?

I think that Jason has actually reproduced the noodle incident is a sort of riff off his whole âboy geniusâ thing. We donât know what it was⊠but he does.
