OKay.. this one is random and I do not understand this one

you just need to know that pearls before swine (another great comic, btw) has loads of bad puns, similar to the one jason’d set up.

“Stephan Pastis sometimes does this sort of extreme rhyming in Pearls Before Swine and it seemed like a fun thing for Jason to try. The “noodle incident” was a never-explained event occasionally referred to in Calvin and Hobbes.”

Stephan does a great job with those puns/rhymes. He even makes fun of himself when he does it, too. Rat usually always goes into his office and tell him that he’s going to slap him or something. Pearls is one of my favorite strips as of late.

This is what comics call a labored gag.

Which was Bill Watterson’s point when he set up that gag in C & H. Nobody knows what the “noodle incident” was, precisely so it COULD be left to the readers to imagine it for themselves.

Well Calvin did give a pumpkin a lobotomy when he carved a joack-o-lantern. And Hobbes almost fainted.

I suspect PBS is going to have an increased readership now. Good for SP. He has been complaining lately about the death of newspapers and hence his readers.

I wish PBS was on this site, along with several others I have to go off-site to see.

Nice of Bill to give Stephan a nod, both strips are superb. This one’s a groaner, though…

The ad showed a vaguely South-American-looking guy holding a sausage and singing, flanked by two busty women holding skillets. The slogan across the bottom of the sign read…

Comics.com did a hardware upgrade or something about two-three weeks ago. It’s way better now.

I’m not saying comics.com is now as good as GoComics, but if you haven’t been there recently, give it another try.

From “Calvin and Hobbes,” it makes you wonder what WAS the so-called “noodle incident” from that story. Unbelieveable that Mr. Amend remembered that from Mr. Watterson.

I think that Jason has actually reproduced the noodle incident is a sort of riff off his whole ‘boy genius’ thing. We don’t know what it was… but he does.
