Jig’s up, Scott. You used to work on “Prince Valiant” some years ago. I bet you gave John lots of help in learning how to write the typical "Prince Valiant’ comic strip.
ah Prince Valiant flavored Working Daze I did not see this coming and its an amazing look there Mr. Roberts, I’m always impressed by your work in general but this is some awesome eye candy
I asked Gary (artist) if he’d asked Mark (writer.) It looks Gaelic, Irish or Scottish, and the closest I can come is ‘mal-DOOV.’ Any Gaelic authorities out there?
Yes, we confess the irony. It was actually John who was on vacation, so I just kinda did the whole week myself. Then I took my vacation, after getting enough strips done, (including the gags John sent right after he got back, which will run next week.)
Having a mad on, or getting any (fill in the blank) on is just the kind of slang that wouldn’t normally be found in Prince Valiant. All the more reason to allow it in this 21st century setting. I mean, it’s not as if Dana’s going to chase Ed with a sword.
Ed’s sort of passive aggressive. He may exert more energy avoiding work than he would in actually doing the work- but still, on some perverse level, he feels he’s winning through non-compliance.
Good song! No Watterson this week, but we did have Calvin appear once before. Actually, it was Jay transformed by Dana.If we do another week like this, it’ll be all different cartoonists.

Really enjoying the different syles this week, but this is the best one so far in my humble opinion. Great job.

as a regular reader of Prince Valiant I immediately recognized the style and this is by far the best ‘replacement’ strip yet.

Actually, I still work on Prince Valiant. Got one open in Photoshop right now, about to put the lettering in. But yeah, I couldn’t resist this.

So, Scott, could you give any help on how to pronounce “Maldubh”?

I wondered if Prince Valiant. Haven’t read it for years, but still so familiar – especially the title

Actually, this is ALL Scott I wouldn’t dare to dabble with the Prince.

PS: I’ve worked on a lot of different projects over the years but Scott is the best at cloning styles.

No, just her absolute power abilities like changing him into one of any number of things. Real nice, loved it.

Now if only Ed would put that kind of energy into doing his work, but that would make Dana the Queen of Wishful Thinking.

This is Prince Valiant’s drawing isn’t it?
scottartist creator over 13 years ago
Well, it’s a spoof of Val, naturally. And the logo mockup alone took a bit of time.

I like that turn of the phrase “has a mad on”, nicely done

Love the head-shots, especially Ed. Would really enjoy seeing portraits of the rest of the cast done in this style.
