Mid 30s is what I understood. The last time I read this strip they used to give the publishing date. What happened with Marryin’ Sam? Why did we leaqve that story?

Yesterday’s strip was dated 1/31. Today’s is 12/11. So at least eleven months have passed since the last strip, yesterday.
The reason for that gap is because not all Lil Abner strips are available. Some are missing.
On my computer, there’s a little magnifying glass on the lower right side of the strip. If you click on it, it will enlarge the strip and you can read the blurry letters. I click on it every time.
Once before, when the previous people (or company) was publishing this strip, I asked them to include the date (including year) of publication. They began doing that, and then the ownership of the strip changed hands. We can ask the new owners to include the date of publication (including year) but it will take several people requesting it to make that happen.
Below this comment box is a navigation menu with the “Contact Us” under the column HELP. Click on that to request the full date – month, day and year – to be printed witht he Li’l Abner strip.
It skipped from January 31, 1935, to December 11, 1947. Be prepared for other large gaps in the future. For instance, it will skip from May 31, 1948 to December 27, 1951, but there will be only three days’ worth, then another skip to January 21, 1952.

If you enlarge the strip, its all readable, and on the bottom of Al Capp’s letter it says, copyright 1947
