Time to rethink this parenting thing.

Panel 3 is picture-perfect. Too bad Nancy’s melodramatics weren’t more persuasive….

I do wish we could give Thumbs Up on this site. Great comment.BTW, is Parent’s Day a real thing?

“Parent’s day is celebrated on the 4th Sunday of every July.” which would be today – good to know … I suddenly feel the need to go home, slam a few doors, scream “I hate you” and run crying from the room

Some things NEVER change … When I hear someone had a baby, I WELCOME them to Parenthood – ALSO known as the “Silent Majority”!

In 1994 Bill Clinton signed a bill to commerate the 4th Sunday in July as Parents Day! Clinton! really? for recognizing, uplifting and supporting the role of parents in the rearing of children.

Yep, it is a real thing and it is on my organizer calendar and my Google calendar.@catfoot: It is a little late for the DeGroots to be rethinking the parent thing unless you were speaking of yourself. Me? The ex and I decided to skip the whole thing.

most of us are tired of so many holidays that seem repetitive… is enough with dad day and mom day, why do we need parent day, grandparents day, grandma day, grandpa day, uncle day, aunt day, adoptive parents day, foster parents day and so on? as they can be covered by the original mom day and dad day?

Today is Sunday, a day to honor the Sun, which sustains all life. I think I will work on my tan.

Every day should be Parent’s day. If you don’t have your Parent’s anymore, you probably agree with me. If you do still have your Parents, you better start enjoying them now. Because you WILL MISS them when they are gone. :)

Parents Day, like many “special” days (think Children’s Day and Sweetest Day), were invented by card and gift companies to keep themselves in steady business throughout the year. I love my parents, but until I have two birthdays, I will honor them only on their birthday, at Christmas, and on Fathers and Mothers Days respectively.

In 3rd panel, LuAnn’s sideways look shows they hear, and I think may have a surprise for later.

I see Parent’s day on my printed calendar- just another Hallmark thing that another lame president decided to declare (like the MLK and Chavez things) -for angry activists who in my NHO should NOT be celebrated. I went out to an elegant dinner on the night that MLK was killed (Chicago was afraid of riots and I dined with 3 friends at the Florentine room-very festively I may add because the place was much less occupied so we all became good friends and even danced in the aisles.
kfccanada over 13 years ago
@vidazzle…obviously you grew up without parents who cared about you. You must be bitter right down to your toenails, thus the celebration of MLK’s death. Hopefully, you have no children to negatively influence.
As I have said before, this cartoon is all about a typical family with typical teenagers who, like most typical teenagers, take their parents for granted. Luann and Brad don’t get it now;but, just wait till they themselves have children. Perhaps Toni should rethink getting too serious about Brad as he shows no afinitity towards being a parent.
