It was a good idea, that didn’t live up to expectations (even though it did lots of cool stuff). The gripping hand is resources freed up for the next push.

Maybe there’s a scrap yard that can salvage one.

@Night-Gaunt: And the exact day the Shuttle was announced, with all the compromises included, the OMB announced the contingency funds (for the new things that would have to be invented) were withdrawn, so it was under-funded and behind the power curve from GO.And Al’s going to be selling at least five of them…

Al already sold two of them to somebody from the Buran corporation in Russia. They went all to pieces, too.
