@SUSAN NEWMAN I figured out that, because of my age, I may not live to see Elizabeth get married (again) aand read the last very special comment before FBOFW ended
See, it’s a problem when kids are allowed to casually address each other as “dummy”. No sense saying that “kids will be kids”. Kids need to be taught to treat others with respect.
Aw, that was cute. In kids’ minds their parents always belong together no matter what.-—————-@Kydex29: I definitely agree with you, but I would think that would be addressed in the “unseen” panel after the punchline. That’s where the grandma recovers from what Lizzie said, and gently corrects Michael on how to address others.
These reruns are all right with me as during the course of life I had to work two jobs and didn’t have time to enjoy any of these stories. So, all of this is brand new to me…and probably many others as well.
Well, just before the series “restarted”, Lynn said that it wouldn’t be the same stories and she may not follow the same path… Elizabeth may not get married at the “same age” (or at all). Heck, April may never be born if she doesn’t feel like writing her in… we’ll find out within the couple decades or so, I suppose. ;-)
Very true. I never knew her though since I came on the scene much later during the first run. Love being able to re-live this series now. I can’t wait until I’m all caught up! haha!
Regarding Michael’s comment to Lizzie in the last panel . . . I’ve always heard it said that every person in the world has a “twin” out there somewhere. I was once compared to both Marisa Tomei and Martina McBride in the looks department. When I look at myself in the mirror, I don’t see any resemblance to either one of them whatsoever as I think they’re both very beautiful and me . . . well, not quite so much (unless, of course, you ask my husband. But then, he’s quite prejudiced, which is one of the things I love most about him!). But compliments like that sure know how to make a girl feel good even when you don’t quite believe them! ;-)
@burleigh2 Apparently, when Lynn first started out her (American) publishers wanted her to set the series in the States, but she stuck to her guns and insisted that it be in Canada. That’s one reason why I always liked this strip so much, because my country doesn’t get a lot of attention.

Yeah, kids tell it like they see it! Sometimes to the horror of their parents.

When you see them taking home milk from the store in bags you get an idea that they’re northern cousins.
