It is a long time we had a series I think. How come ? Even if they are repeats and the end of the story is known they are really much more fun as they keep you waiting for the next day’s strip in anticipation.
It’s only fitting that Mom let the air out of you after you let the air out of the tires, Calvin.
Don’t even think about such a thing, Number Six The thought of turning on the TV and flipping through infomercial after infomercial is not a viable alternative to reading the comics.
When I was in high school I siphoned gas out of Mom’s car to run my motorcycle. Dad caught me and said “Don’t let me catch you doing that again!”. I was much more careful after that…
What is up with Calvin’s fascination with the constant vandalism of the family car in some form or other??? Well, Calvin can’t really be blamed here — completely anyhow. His parents are the ones that are falling down on the job. He’s a smart, rambunctious, mischievous, insatiably curious 6-year-old boy that needs constant parental supervision . . . something his parents are woefully short on giving him. Knowing their young son the way they do (or, at least the way they should), if they refuse to watch him and teach him how to behave and stay out of trouble, then what do they expect?!?
I remember doing that when I was a kid because I wanted my Dad to not go to work one morning and stay home and play with me instead! I remember a lesson on how to blow up the tires with a bicycle pump enough so we could take it to the garage and then finishing the rest of the job there. I don’t remember him yelling but the work it took to inflate the tires back up that day taught me to never do it again. Atleast we did do something together that day, that was something like a game. I remember being happy when sometime afterwards, the tires lost air normally and we took it to the garage. He was going to put the air in the tires, hesitated, handed me the tire gauge, the hose, and said, “You know how to do this right!” He was cool too and never told Mom the story!
when 16 my buddy BT and i would steal gas from BT seniors ford tracter pump and do the town. i called BT and told him to meet me behind his house and we would steal some gas from BT senior and go shoot pool. yep, senior jumped in the truck,we stole some gas and he also beat my butt at pool.gas was 29.9 and pool was ten cents per rack. one of the many good things from the fiftys.

As for the end of the world, Hobbes should have mentioned the wrath of God, but then the conversation turned to the wrath of Mom….

Calvin what ever mischief you get into mom and dad will know you did the deed.

Even if a neighbourhood kid DOES let the air out of the tires, Calvin will get blamed for it, after all he’d done to the car!
ratlum over 13 years ago
The world as Calvin knows it could very well end with something as small as letting the air out of Mums car tires.
