In New England, it’s Dunkin Donuts. A Krispy Kreme that opened here in CT to long lines had to close down. For that matter, so did the Tim Horton’s franchises that took over another chain locally.

I cannot remember the last time I had a donut. It’s been years. But I have coffee every morning with my oatmeal. It’s been quite a long time since I had pizza, too. The last one, several years ago, was a home made one. They’re the best anyway. Beer is rare around my house, too. Once a year, maybe.

I seriously don’t fit in around here (where I live), in Maine.

Of Life, The Universe, Everything and this explains how Churches sort of rewrite the Bible to suit their purposes and explain it by saying that the people who wrote were biased and bigoted and uneducated and unenlightened people that if they had not been hampered by the previous would have include the needed stuff in the Bible to answer the present days woes.

@steverino -That Krispy Kreme opened in my home town, just down the street (US 1) from a Dunkin’ Donuts. Dunkin is thriving.

Here in New Haven, CT, we must have donuts written into the zoning laws – every 5/8 of a mile, we have a Dunkin’ Donuts. I don’t know about the rest of the US, but New Haven DEFINITELY runs on Dunkin’s.

We have Starbucks, Blenz, Timmies (Horton’s) Two Canadians up against an American. Only one has breakfast, soup and donuts besides coffee. The other Canadian has panini sandwiches and cookies.

Pizza, doughnuts, and beer are the stuff of life, but coffee I can do without. Can’t see the logic behind paying Starbucks more for a 12 or 16 oz. cup of flavored hot water than I pay my gas station guy for a gallon of hi-test. Krispy’s management messed up, forcing a strategic withdrawal, but they’re coming back. For a tried and true route to a great myocardial infarction, though, it’s hard to beat a great Philly cheesesteak, wit’. Often imitated, rarely duplicated. It’s a heart attack on a roll, and I love ’em! Especially with mushrooms or pepperoni- or maybe both (extra cheese)! Goes better with beer than doughnuts. Done both, so I speak from experience.
