While I know – or am pretty sure – what he actually meant, I can’t help but read Arlo’s comment as ‘how do we get rid of the kid and take the farm for ourselves?’

Hopefully, the kid will never forget where he came from!

Ahhh… this is what family is all about. If you’re lucky, it lasts for generations.

Yeah, I think Arlo loves the situation. He’s being sarcastic as to not being seen as a ‘softy’, but look at Janis’ smile. She kinows better. Arlo is hook, line and sinker into being there for his son.

An empty nest is great! And having your kids calling asking for advice makes it all better yet!

A&J are lucky with this kid.

My hat off to JJ. This strip is so loving and understanding of… young couple and parents with all the trials – and comedy! – that entails… parents growing older… children growing up…

I’ve said it before – and I’ll say it again! A&J makes me smile… and realize that there ARE people out there who value the same things that I do…

This stage is the pay-off for having survived the teen years. Suddenly, your kid is someone you want to be friends with and who wants to be friends with you!

What’s all this, a Gus Ex Machina? Is he going to sell the restaurant to buy the kids a farm? If not, will he be able to operate it without family labor??
