Coincidentally, I have an urge to say this to one of my grad school professors.

That said, the quote marks in Caulfieldā€™s word balloon appear to be meaningful, but I miss the hidden meaning. Frazz, I ainā€™t.

I got stuck on panel 1 thinking there was some numerical significance with Caufield saying ā€˜That works outā€¦.ā€™ Dang if I could figure anything though. Any math wizā€™ out there?

Iā€™d rather be the socket wrench. Much more versatile.

At least heā€™s smart enough to NOT say what he was thinking in frame 3. ;-)

If heā€™d been a nut and said that, heā€™d have had to bolt.

Eric and JiminNYC, Iā€™d rather be a Jack Hammer than a street, thatā€™s what Iā€™d tweet! See, we could plant trees where the street was!

One possibility for Caulfieldā€™s comment in the first panel: If you look at the question numbers, it adds up to 42 questions. 42 (from the Hitchhikerā€™s Guide to the Galaxy) is the ultimate answer to life, the universe, and everything!

I literally cannot hear 42 without thinking (or saying, if Iā€™m caught in a weak moment: ā€œ42? Thatā€™s all youā€™ve got to show for seven and a half million years?ā€ I sometimes paraphrase, but the gist is always there.
