The Pioneer 10 spacecraft was launched in 1972 for a 21 month mission to explore the outer solar system. It passed beyond Pluto's orbit in 1983 and continued to communicate with Earth until 2003! The world's first Akkadian language dictionary was completed in 2011 at the University of Chicago, although, the language's dialects of Assyrian and Babylonian haven't been spoken in 2000 years! During the Battle of Britain in 1940, a dog named Rip help find more than 100 people buried under collapsed buildings!

Something else wrong in this strip. A 21 month mission would probably only get you out to Mars, if you hurried. Outer solar system takes years. (Probably 21 years was meant.)

Maybe it completed the 21-month planned mission and just kept going and communicating until 2003.
