My hubby started working nights and me days so we wouldn’t have to get daycare for our 7 year olds, when they were 7 that is. now they’re 11. But when the kids were younger, we figured it would be cheaper if I stayed home. All monies I would earn would go for daycare, so why bother?
We agreed before we got married that I’d stay home with any children we had. When I quit my job, co-workers were shocked. But I’d already figured out that between daycare, formula, disposable diapers & gas, that it was too expensive for me to continue to work after our first child was born. A least with me staying home, we could make-do easier with less money, and less stress since I wasn’t trying to juggle both responsibilities.

28 years ago I had to give up my job as daycare back then was not great. We lived in a bad location since I had to travel a long distance.

How can day care be that expensive? The government hasn’t even taken it over yet.
