I’d split my bet between Dagwood and Jughead. The fact that both of them can constantly pack it in yet remain slim indicates a metabolic difference between them and the other two. Jughead’s also a teenage boy, and nobody can out-eat a teenage boy (witness Jeremy Duncan and Peter Fox, who supposedly have typical appetites for their demographic). So Jughead to win, Dagwood to place, Sarge to show. (Since they’re eating hot dogs rather than hamburgers, Wimpy is in the position of a wet-track racehorse trying to win on a dry track.)
I wonder – if you win an eating contest but afterwards it’s discovered you have a tapeworm, would they put an asterisk next to your name in the record books? Would that be considered illegal performance-enhancement?
Dry, it’s not discrimination, it’s just a safety concern. If Garfield were allowed to compete then one of the human contestants would likely eat him in the heat of play. Although that would be an immeasurable boon to the comics page, it would result in a lengthy argument among the judges whether Garfield’s hot dog consumption should added to the total of the guy who ate him. At the very least, we’d wind up with another asterisk. On the other hand, it might be Dabney’s best shot at winning.
(Then again, I personally find Garfield unpalatable, so maybe he’d be safe.)

Cool. And Wimpy, forget about Tuesday, it’s free today.

My money’s on Sarge or Dagwood.

I guess the competition is just for people, otherwise Garfield would be there. Isn’t that discrimination? :_D

Actually, I expect that Leo Fatcat would take this one, if he could be bothered to enter such a plebian event.

Peter Fox could beat them all.
