Ripley's Believe It or Not by Ripley’s Believe It or Not! for October 22, 2011
Transcript:
Double D Dennis the Menace first appeared as a comic character in the United States on March 12, 1951, and less than a week later, and entirely unrelated Dennis the Menace debuted in the UK! Neither author had any idea of the other's work. Love that stache! With the double heart shaped mustache- Keith Gandhi Jones Haubrich of Seattle, Wash., USA, won the 2011 Freestyle Mustache category of the Biennal World Beard and Mustache Championships. The United States has approximately 290 million privately owned firearms- enough for nearly 9 out of every 10 people in the country to have one!

Depends on the American. Probably not far from 50/50.

Copyright laws can be a menace too.

So that could make 9 out of 10 Americans not be afraid of criminals…
BigSlurpy about 13 years ago
If guns are outlawed, how could we shoot the liberals?
Puddleglum2 about 13 years ago
I don’t have the heart to tell “Gandhi Jones” that his mustache looks weird.
Puddleglum2 about 13 years ago
The item spells moustache both ways. Mustache is more prominent, but moustache is there twice.

It’s not the gun, it’s whose finger is on the trigger. I’m glad that liberals don’t want to have a gun; it makes me feel safer.

…I am -perhaps-too pro-gun.I beleive gun handling should be taught in schools and that it is every American’s right to have the weapon of his or her choice….up to and including atomic bombs…do I want some politican saying who can and can not have firearms?Criminals have them.Insane people carry them, why not me?Should women on their periods not be allowed tocarry guns(as my sister-in-law asks)…sure!
people die in car crashes everyday.do we stop making and selling cars?Do we limit whom can drive one?No really.
Cigarettes kill.Whoppers and Big Macs
The only difference I see,is that guns are awesome….

If we let Obama take our guns away,we better get ready to hide in caves ,because we will be defensles against the criminals. I own 2 guns & plan on getting another. If you need to call the police because someone is breaking into your home, and it takes them 2 minutes to get to your home, they would be to late. My home is guarded by Smith& Wesson and Taurus, for back up!

I’m the 1 in 10, and I’m not afraid of criminals.

Good thing I’m a liberal in the military and own many firearms! And I’m not the only one by far. . . Those of you that think Obama will take away your weapons aren’t looking at the big picture.
nytehawk14 about 13 years ago
Just keep one thing in mind folks… everyone here can express their opinion because of those 290 million firearms and the 2nd amendment.

Guns breed guns. Canadians own way more guns than Americans, yet hardly any human deaths are caused by guns there. In America on the other hand, we may own less guns per capita, but thousands are slaughtered by the gun each year. Why? Well, it doesn’t take a genius to answer that. America is so overly fear based, with so many Americans full of rage over the fact they are being screwed by their government, they take out that rage on each other, instead of going to the source. Perfect! Exactly what the one’s in power want. God Bless America! Not!

I’m a liberal. Bought my gun when Bush was appointed. Obama isn’t trying to take away guns the NRA is just paranoid.
Studakas about 13 years ago
I am a proud gun owner and supporter of the second amendment. the U.S. constitution gives us the RIGHT to keep and BEAR arms.

Even weirder about the two Dennises, according to Don Markstein’s Toonopedia, due to the dating of the British comic book was released the Monday BEFORE the date printed. They debuted on the same day.http://www.toonopedia.com/dennisb.htm

Let’s not forget the most important thing about owning a gun. It is our Constitutional right. If you don’t think that our founding fathers meant ALL honest citizens had that right when they wrote the 2nd Amendment, just look at the other statements they said about people owning guns.

That’s interesting about the two Dennis the Menace’s. I love our version of Dennisl He’s really kind of cute but pesty-just like a kid. I’ve seen the U..K.‘s Dennis from articles my pen-pal sends me. He reminds me of a school bully. But they’re both about an impish little boy.

P. S. one more thing. Remember the Tiannmen Square Massacre? If the protesters there had had guns when the soldiers came, China would be a free country today!

How do you pronounce the word “debuted”?
Logical Duck about 13 years ago
Thank you. It’s odd because according to dictionary.com ‘debut’ is a French word, a derivative of the verb ‘debuter’. In French, ‘debut’ would be pronounced with a silent ‘t’, but surely in ‘debuter’ the ‘t’ would be sounded.

Is that a mustache or a double-barreled bottle opener?

@spirit2002We Republicans and other conservatives always consider hunting season open on traitors, but we generally prefer to handle it through legal, civilized means.
