In college after being out for 15 years and I’ve noticed something about the papers. In the work world if it’s not under 5 sentences it won’t be read but in college there is a minimum of 3 pages to say it. Talk about making my head hurt!

Either “And maDe millions” or “And makeS millions” – “And make millions” would only work if she was responding about a group of people, not just Britney Spears.

@themom51, Lila is continuing Boyd’s sentence, “…dropped out of high school to pursue music and make millions.”

Ah but know I’m hearing adults say no need to go to college. Business say need work experience. Go figure. Some college courses we do not need we have to take.

The thing is that unless you are truly gifted and/or have a vision and have the work ethic to pursue that gift or vision, you need to go to school to make something out of your life. Sure, it’s easy to list the successful ones who didn’t go onto college, but the ones who didn’t make are much more numerous. (Although I am strongly in favor of pushing the ones who are not capable of getting something out of college to get education in a technical skill.)

I should add that my best friend’s husband had a dream and desire to be a musician, so he spent several years after college to pursue his dream. My sweet friend supported him while he didn’t have a job, but spent all of his time and effort on a dream album. He did his best, but the album went nowhere. He ended up getting a job in radio where he seems pretty happy. Maybe it is not what he thought his life would be, but at least he tried, and I hope he dies knowing that he did his best. I also applaud him for facing reality and getting a job in a related field, so that he is enjoying his job as well as being practical. Life is too short not to pursue your dreams, but you need to be realistic as well.
