I like what Tracy says: “Be polite, Alldid. She’s family.” Cool, calm, polite, and yet still reminding Vera that there’s to be no nonsense without actually making any threats. Truly excellent!
A very big thank you to Mike Curtis himself for answering my question Saturday about how he created Blaze Rise.I never expected Mike to see my comment, much less answer it (I only saw it yesterday, hence my slow ‘thank you.’)Thanks again for the look inside how you write the strip.
Readers have not seen Sparkle and Vera together since their off-screen split…33 years ago. Vera was one of the primary characters when I first started reading. He was a cad with an impractical car, but has a long history with Dick Tracy (grand theft auto, obscene phone calls, accused of murder, attempted murder, kidnapping, suicide attempts in 1975 alone). That must be an insult to Vera to no longer be part of “the family”.
Vera does have at least 1 good quality. In the 1960’s, when Vera was doing dog illustrations to sell, a little boy was touching a picture of a dog that resembled one the boy had until it was killed by a vehicle. Vera let the boy have the picture for free, and the boy (with a tear of happiness in his eye) and his mother were very greatful.

I was wondering how long it would be before Sparkle saw him. Once again, the new team keeps things moving right along.
@Carlo check Tuesday’s comment thread for info about Vera.

Tracy’s hand on the should with a reminder to “be polite.” If that didn’t scare Alldid, nothing will!I love how this story is shaping up.

Greetings, all!
She addresses her father-in-law — the grandfather of her children — as Mr. Tracy??
marvee about 13 years ago
Vera would never have been a part of the Tracy family. B.O. Plenty and Gravel Gertie would have been his in-laws.

Second comment above. I was agreeing with Vista Bill about margueritem’s avatars.
