I thought Calvin would be a bit quicker off the mark , he should have said âMy ball , my rules , no touchdownâ .Or does the ball belong to Hobbes ?
I had a cousin who would run in slow motion with the ball. My sister and I together couldnât stop him, only occasionally snatching the ball from his arm.
Other kidsâ games are all such a bore!Theyâve gotta have rules and they gotta keep score!Calvinball is better by far!Itâs never the same! Itâs always bizarre! You donât need a team or a referee! You know that itâs great, âcause itâs named after me!
Hobbes (the poster): Thanks for the âPeanutsâ explanation on yesterdayâs forum . . . but Iâm still wondering about the name. Charles Schulz didnât choose it â even hated it â but someone had to come up with it and Iâm just wondering how. (Personally, I love the name but then âPeanutsâ is what I grew up on since it was âbornâ before I was.) Any more thoughts? Thanks!
@GretchenâsMom,Whatâs this? Are you âKlineâing off my bandwagon? Is it by design, or âclothesâion? Did I âwearâ out my welcome? Will you be âraggingâ on me soon? âWearâ will it end?
Hi GretchensMom and Number 6The origin of the name âPeanutsâ is an interesting story. Iâll write something on it tomorrow morning, since others on this site may be interested in it also.

I could have envisioned a similar result with Moe, but a stuffed tiger? This is definitely not your game, Calvin.

Yesterday, it was lacrosse with Suzie, today it is football with Hobbes, Calvin needs to find new games to lose at.

If Calvin were fishing, he would have (made) the âtackleâ!Hobbes must be made of âthe right stuffâ!

Hobbes made âsix pointsâ, but Calvin probably wonât learn any of them!

This calls for a round of âCalvin Ballâ where the rules are fluid and Calvin always wins.

Gee Hobbes, didnât that tickle? I would have dropped the ball with a kid squirming around like that.
Phosphoros over 13 years ago
Hobbes scored without even throwing the ball, running or touching it down. Now thatâs the kind of football I can play and win with!

Hobbes: Off the charts. Calvin: Off the charts. Relatively.
