Ignoring common sense is not uncommon for Calvin. It’s not uncommon to many – young and older.

He may not have common sense, but he is honest, and has (at the moment) a good sense of his own qualities!

Growing up, I heard the phrase that Calvin’s Mom used in Panel 2 so many times that I vowed to never use it with my kids as they grew up. In fact, I never use it at all with anyone.

You seem to have the same mentality as calvin does in this strip:http://www.gocomics.com/calvinandhobbes/1988/07/10

A mentality which Watterson was pretty outspoken against. Also, have you seen the cartoon incarnations of Dilbert, Baby Blues, etc? They ruined the original creation

Don’t hold your breath; this morning (9:30 EST) I couldn’t get on at all. Later this afternoon was better, but there are still problems. With the problems I’ve seen on the site, they may not even SEE your message until after Christmas (if it isn’t “accidentally” deleted first.) There are other places to get your comics fix, but without the comments it’s like making out with your sister. What you thought you came for is right there in front of you, but somehow it just isn’t the same and doesn’t feel quite right.

Okay, maybe what I said came out wrong- the cartoons did not ruin the originals. However, the cartoons were terrible, and did not do justice to their sources. My point is that a good comic strip does not necessarily make a good animated cartoon, because it is difficult to translate something that runs in 4-pannel spurts into a 30-minute TV show.
