Can you imagine the heartbreak and suffering if an illegal parent is just snatched leaving the poor kids in school?
Alabama reports that farmers can’t even attract jobless people to fill voids and the crops are not being picked, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
I actually think this little girl is giving a sincere warning, not being any sort of racist. It’s a sad state of affairs that she’s learning to talk like that, but at least she’s got enough heart to try and warn someone.
Being a second generation Americon on my father’s side of the family I have no problem with someone who wants to immigrate to the United States for a better life. What I do have a problem with are people (regardless of their country of origin) who come here illegally. By requiring someone to provide “papers” is the same policy that other soverign nations require. The sadness is that the idiot classmate of Gracie making ignorant comments. Oh, by the way, if Fox News is not inacurate with their coverage why are the leading CNN & MSNBC combined in the ratings?
Calling people “illegal” is stupid and bigoted anyway. I got a parking ticket the other day; does that make me “an illegal”? Am I an “illegal” person if I break the law speeding? No.
I’m a person who did someTHING illegal. So reducing people who committed an illegal ACT down to nothing more than “illegals” is bigoted right there, because it strips away every other part of their human existence in order to focus on the one thing they did wrong.
And assuming that people who happen to look like people who immigrated without papers are also “illegals” simply because they share a culture or a skin color is even more bigoted.
There are many facets to this whole thing: 1st I would like to put the coyotes (the human kind, not the canines) who charge illegals a lot of money and risk their lives to cross the border, OUT OF BUSINESS. Face it: This country’s economy needs low-paid illegals to work in restaurants etc that legal workers wouldn’t want to do because of the low salaries. If these employers paid their workers decent salaries they would have to raise their prices and diners and wouldn’t patronize them and the restaurants would therefore go out of business.
Most illegals feels that the pay they receive is better than what they would get in their own countries (that’s why they’re willing to pay the coyotes so much to bring them here). If they crossed the border to the US they should be guided to a job that no American or legal immigrant would accept. They should leave their spouses and kids in their own countries so as not to flood our social services, hospitals, schools, etc. and send their money back home – a dollar sent back home goes farther than a dollar spent in the US. And the kids would be less likely to pick up bad habits (drugs, etc.) in US schools. In my own experience (I live in a Bronx neighborhood filled with illegals), few illegal aliens are involved in crime (by crime, I mean rape, robbery, etc. NOT illegal entry). The illegal must understand that there will be no amnesty to make him legal and to get jobs that Americans DO want, thus needing a new layer of illegal to replace them. They should not get ahead of the line of people who are patiently waiting on line to immigrate to the US legally. Before u pounce on me, PLEASE READ THE NEXT PARAGRAPH:
In return for the above, illegal aliens who are not involved in criminal activities should not be terrorized by immigration officials. They should be free to openly rent apartments (Yes, I know they must live many to an apartment due to their low pay and the high cost of renting. They should be free to open bank accounts so they may remit money to their families back home without paying exorbitant remital costs. They should be able to report crimes against them to the police without fear of deportation and if injured on the job, get free access to medical attention. How long they should work here can be worked out by the authorities. Don’t forget, many illegals get taxes and social security deducted from their pay even if they aren’t aware of it.
On another note, a few years ago, the Sunday edition of “Baldo” had the Feds bursting into Sergio’s home and seizing his Tia after making patronizing remarks to Baldo This was a one-issue arc and I wrote a letter to the Miami herald, which publishes “Baldo” because I failed to see the humor or any conclusion to this one-issue strip. The week before, baldo’s illustrator drew the family in “real life” as opposed to cartoonish style to explaine how Tia entered her nephew’s home and a possible romantic angle to Tia’s life. Perhaps some of you remember this issue..

Hey, mean girls. If stupidity was illegal, you’d be doing 30-to-life.

Children learn this kind of behavior from their parents. The mom and dad are probably at work harassing co-workers in the same way. How rude!

People are getting stupider earlier. Well, children do learn from what adults say AND act.

So, smart people are illegal now? I certainly know of a lot of folks who want that to be true.

I can’t think of anything more outrageous to counter this. Stupidity runs rampant.
