Mom was the deliver of the lines – “Only cows eat with their mouths open” There was also no singing at the table, but dad & I would sneak it in at least once or twice a week. .Like where Eddies “or else” thoughts wandered .

My little (adopted) sister claimed that it was physically impossible to chew with her mouth closed. Mealtimes during my teenage years were a nightmare.

I don’t enjoy it when my kids catch me flatfooted like this. The whole ‘Firm But Fair’ thing doesn’t come naturally to me. Firm, okay, but Fair? Arm wrestling to see who’s right isn’t FAIR, but it’s still and option, right? I still feel more like the kids than a parent. Dunno how I got to be the age I am without growing up any more than I have.

You are not old until you are the parent of a great grandparent – from my husband’s grandmother, who has accepted the fact that she is getting up there :-)
