BOA and the other banks have cancelled their $5 fee, so this cartoon in a bit late. (I hear that there were two responses to the proposed $5 fee: NO and HELL, NO!)
When the S&L we banked with in ‘86 (CenFed) got eaten by GlenFed, which in turn was gobbled-up by CitiBank (which acquired the phone# 1-800-THEbank! – illustrating their intent), we switched to the local ’ethnic’ bank. When that was consumed by OneUnited, we went to the local credit union, WesCom (which had been the TelCo’s CU), but at least was still local, and is owned by the members.
IMHO, the “spit” in the mortgage business were the home inspectors, who always managed to uphold the deals, regardless. Few home buyers seem to understand that the appointed inspector does not represent their interests, but the interests of the bank.
We’re waking up and we’re getting better and we’re recognizing that our real enemies are a lot closer than overseas…Go get ’em,Wiley. Everybody else: get in shape, look for truth, find allies, behave carefully. Cut ’way down on sugar, real and metaphorically…take care of the people you love.
I was in a credit union once. Reagan decreed it had to merge with one on a military base three counties away. The one I am in now seems to be a bit more permanent. Great alternative to banks, which get gobbled up without dictatorial edict.

That’s disgusting, though it may explain the separation of the two daily specials behind the lovely waitress.

You are much better off dining at home or at some fast food restaurant where you can see your food being prepared. Of course there was my wife…………

Latin for “to spit”: spitto, spittere, ach tui, splattus!
