Larry Niven said the same thing in his stories about wars with cat-like aliens. Baring teeth as a friendly gesture is unique to humans, and maybe chimps.

I think someone needs more fiber in his diet.

Is Rat aiming at becoming a TV shill or huckster? His really big teeth remind me of Tom Torquemada’s (in Pibgorn).
