Mystery Science Theater 3000 Presents: “This Island Milford.”
Product placement of the day: ESPN. This is quite a fun game to play while reading Gil Thorp. It’s almost fun as “guess the character” as we try to figure out if the really is Deke in panel one without any hair color.
Dale who? “The needs of the many, are greater than the needs of the one.”- Mr. Spock, Star Trek II
I knew Dale Carnegie, I worked with Dale Carnegie, and Gil, you are no Dale Carnegie.
Yep, whenever I have problems with a coach I go straight to the top, the person with all the power – the head of the Booster Club.
“Why should I care about Dale Carnegie’s principal? They’re not even in our conference!”
Deke is misguided of course, but the players should want to play well for their coach. What does Gil’s hand signal mean? I forget that one.
Does Deke live with his parents? Pretty fancy digs for someone his age. And is the TV mounted above the fireplace? Never seen that before.
Gil is trying to be hip (or 8 years ago hip) doing the “talk to the hand” routine, but doesn’t realize he should have his palm facing outward.
Deke has gray hair that’s going black at the temples—sometimes.
