The getaway car drivers didn’t seem convinced that the Flat Top escapee was Putty Puss; they seemed to think his Eighties songs were out of character for him.
As a theory, the asylum is now missing two inmates. One is Putty Puss, the other is someone who—somehow—acquired Putty Puss’s ability to change his face. One of them knocked out a guard, took his uniform and put on his face. If my guess is right, the guard is Putty Puss. When they got to the studio, Putty Puss dumped the guard identity and disguised himself as himself. Now that Dick thinks Putty Puss has escaped, the real Putty Puss is going to put on the guard’s face again, then escape.
Whatever is going on, the guard’s story is just too lame to be taken at face value. There must be more behind it.
Just a note from Mike and Joe. In the Abner Kadaver story, the villian got away. BB Eyes is out on bail as is Mumbles and Doubleup. Normally I would like to finish the villians one way or the other, but we are busy setting up Mr Crime’s gang. It’s easier to have them at large than to have six or so criminals all escape jail together at the same time. So normally we’ll have the crook captured or put under at story’s end, but we’re setting up a massive fight come next summer.

Hmm. But Raelene was running loose, to portray Angeltop…. And we have yet to see about Shawntae.

An interesting twist that it was the guard in disguise and not the makeup artist.

The adventure is advancing very nicely … thanks to Team Tracy we have a genuine reason to log on and read this strip each day.

I think Makeup Meltdown just “Jumped the Shark”. There’s no way they’ll top this episode!

A very nice touch to see Sam’s reflection in the mirror in panel one. Terrific attention to detail.
