Doonesbury by Garry Trudeau for November 24, 2011
Transcript:
Jeff: Hey, Becca! Is it true we've only shipped books, not actually sold any yet? Becca: Well, except for the pre-sales. Jeff: Pre-sales? There are pre-sales? Becca: Sure - on the Web! About 4,000 so far. Jeff: Hold on, I want you to talk with someone... Becca: No way. Get over the drama with your dad, Jeff. Rick: Yes? Jeff: Suck on this, Dad... What? Becca: Before the tour. It's not helpful.

Upcoming: another test of Becca’s qualifications for being a “top editor” at Random House: Can she keep father and son from each other’s throats long enough for Jeff’s book tour to end successfully?

Re auto-advercasting: I had one or more that had no way to “off click”. I had to sacrifice the entire page and miss the item I had wanted to read in order to avoid the loud drumming and eardrum-scratching “music”.

Where I live we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving. Oh well…. Merry Christmas!

Why does Jeff have to prove himself to his father soooo much?

DT – the reason that comics are funny is that they bring out the things that you want to do, but are just to uncivilized to do. We all identify with them. If there was someone fixing the rivalry between them, it wouldn’t be funny, it would only be a moral drama. I stopped watching those with Gumby.

Happy Thanksgiving to you Susan. Hey didn’t I see you get a shout-out in the Queen Victoria strip today? Pretty sweet deal.
