My mother-in-law was visiting once and decided to do some ironing. She dug out the board and iron and commenced to steam away. My 6 year old came around the corner and said “what’s that grandma?”
My shirts come wrinkled out of the dryer. I iron them. Once in awhile, if the heat and timing are right, the condition may be acceptable for wear – but throw out the iron? I don’t know what you are talking about!
Oh please, some of you are out of touch. I iron 6 days a week for my family (no, I don’t do it for a living) and so do several of my friends. Even those “no-iron” pants need to be touched up. Unless you wear sweatpants and t-shirts, or you don’t care that it looks like you slept in your clothes, things need to be ironed.I thought this comic was funny. She’s not wasting emotion on it, she’s just talking to it which I sometimes do (talk to inanimate objects) when I’m bored and want to amuse myself. @Nab – maybe that was in your family (and based on your posts, you have had a fairly unique life). In my family, both of my parents worked the same amount and relaxed the same amount. In my house, my husband does nothing at home (not a complaint, just a fact), and I work from 6am to midnight. But he also works extremely hard at his job, so this is the way we do things. We both have had days that we are exhausted and think that we have it the worst. The only reason I say this is not to start an argument about what a husband should do and what a wife should do, but that every family is different and as long as that family is fine with it, then mind your own business and do what’s right for you.
No iron!!! Everyone needs their clothes touched up if they care about their appearance. I’m a quilter so not a day goes by that my iron isn’t on and at work. My ironing table (yes, table not a board) is always set up and ready. I also own 3 irons – 2 regular and a travelling.
I remember my grandmother and my mother heating the old flat irons on the wood burning stoves to do the ironing each Tuesday. Monday was wash day each week and tuesday ironing. I had to help carry water for the wash from the creek behind our house in the gold camps and lumber camps. I turn 78 day after tomtorrow and it seems like it was just yesterday now that I am commenting on it. Life is great and God is good.
Mom was a stickler for getting the ironing done. I, on the other hand, had no problem breaking out the winter ironing while storing the summer ironing. Mom was not a fan of this procedure.

She’s having a bad hair day, leave her alone. She’s not lazy…she’s overworked by three kids and a hubby…do you see anyone else doing chores??

I love to iron! But that’s just me.
Elly thinks she’s so put upon. Now a days women like her do it all….work, two kids and husband. Try that Elly!

Put in ATMs, automated phone calls, robot menus, tech support that only read from books with incomprehensible accents, etc. and I am with you Elly.

When my mom has to iron, she turns to this evil working beast. Make her mad and steam seems to be coming up.

Years ago I took out my ironing board from my closet, and my dog was scared to death of it. He’s never seen it before!
