Baldo by Hector D. Cantú and Carlos Castellanos for December 23, 2011
Transcript:
With his round little belly like a bowl of jelea, he struggled to squeeze down our old chiminea. Then huffing and puffing at last to our sala, with soot smeared all over his red suit de gala. He filled all the stockings with lovely regalos. For none of the ninos had been very malos.

Their Mom died in a tragic auto accident; the 3rd one is either for papi or tia Carmen.

I think it’s just an oversight. The fourth would be where Santa’s head is in the second panel.

Perhaps the gap is where Mom’s stocking would hang if she was still living.

First panel should read “chimenea” (chimney), not “chiminea”.

I’m muy grateful for the linguistic regalos, but it’s time to teach us some Spanish VERBS. Espanol es la lengua de manana…

I love to hear all the possibilities you guys read into the strips. It really is quite amusing and entertaining, not to mention highly creative.
Thanks for sharing your love and stories with us. We really appreciate you guys.
LillyA- you’re right it should be “chimenea”. We knew that of course. Just keeping you folks alert and on your toes.
Ather- you’re probably right : )
Merry Christmas and happy holidays everyone
