I also would like to see Joy’s birth certificate. I dont think she was born in this coun…………oh wait, I must have lapsed into the “birther” movement. Forgive me……….what I started to say was, I want to see her birth certificate because I’ll bet her middle name is Joy. Her first name must be something like, “Hortense” or “Rotunda”

Burl never disappoints. He is totally cold-hearted. And he does it with such ease! Don’t you sometimes wish that you could look him squarely in the eyes and NOT throw him a life ring?

How’s about that 65% pure beef? I wonder what the other 35% is—Not! I understand that the Beef Hut used to serve Kobe Beef, but that was before Burl and Joy stole them blind. Jerry and Verl were with them and Jerry fa—ted for 30 minute straight.

Good morning Crustwoodians wherever you are.

    Good Morning Crustwoodians.

Save me a place in line, pretty please…. as long as it’s NOT at the Beef Hut, and NOT near Burl and Joy.

    65% pure beef…just doesn’t work for me, thanks anyhow…..

And a lobotomy wouldn’t make much difference for Burl, as his brainpower is about 65% as well.

Such a kindhearted man, isn’t he?I guess you could say he has a certain childlike quality about him…. but in his case, it’s called immaturity.

Most adults instinctively care for and protect children.

    Burl instinctively competes with them.

    “Have a nice day”…

in invisible letters it also says “As long as it isn’t nicer than my day…. and, say…. doesn’t your ice cream cone look a little bigger than the one I got??”

Meanwhile…. Marg, I’ll be your neighbor too….. if that’s OK.Don’t forget to put on your cardigan.

Dazz — I didn’t want you to have to post your info again — but thanks.

Hope you read my Monday afternoon Brevity post to you.

No sign of the Colonel yet…. but I still don’t think this is a new kind of ban that they came up with on a Sunday night.

If I’m wrong, Col Chuck, e-mail somebody, please!

x_Tech, cool. There don’t seem to be a lot of people from N CA on this site.

    Leaky …not that long…. LOL

And Dry — no, I think that movie was in S CA, but Santa Rosa was featured i the Hitchcock classic Shadow of a doubt.

It’s also the home of Stephan Pastis, and of the late Charles Schulz.

And GymShoe, sorry if you don’t like all that — but I couldn’t even be answering YOU if I didn’t say your name.

NONE of those comments were personal.

Gathering on the forums of the comics we like gives us something in common to discuss….

If it slips into commentary on daily life, we’re interested because we have that bond.

    That’s what makes a community.

We also comment here on site problems and formatting because we reach everybody at the same time who wants to know.

I remember that you’ve mentioned attending a party, and talked about your experiences with your daily paper…

If we didn’t meet to read The Dinette Set together I wouldn’t know you and it wouldn’t make sense, so I’m glad we do.

BTW all those comments yesterday in foreign tongues weren’t private either, and NONE of us spoke the languages.

Some of us were merely amusing ourselves by pasting silly remarks into Google translate — and that was explained.

E-mail, by contrast, is much more solitary — nobody else can step in with a side comment, or mention a similar experience.

There are many reading who don’t comment often — and you can’t e-mail all of them every day..

And besides — how in the world would we all get each other’s e-mail addresses and phone numbers??

I have been trying to figure out what time warp Crustood is in. The other day JULIE showed a gas pump with gas at $2.09 I checked gas price year on year and found the only time it was $2.09 was in 2005/6. This seems to conflict with the Boom Box which was mid 1980s….Also, no one in Crustwood seems to have a cell phone or laptop. Timmy has no Gameboy or Xbox… The only PC is the one at BURL’s “work” but it appears to be an old corporate style terminal…. Hummm…. To be continued…..

Dear Ms. Larson, I read The DS everyday, and while I enjoy it very much and find it endlessly entertaining, I cannot for the life of me figure out why you say it is based upon making fun of yourself. Do you and your husband and friends behave like the people of Crustwood? Or do you actually know anyone who does? If so, maybe you should be careful of what you admit — maybe even shange your name.

To those who, like GymShoe and MissScarlet, find the comments exclusive, I want to clarify something I apparently didn’t state emphatically enough.

NOTHING said here by any halfway sane person is meant exclusively for the “ears” of the person to whom it is addressed.

We have these conversations to entertain ourselves and others, including you, whoever you are, and we’re hoping you jump right in.

Don’t worry about whether it’s brilliant or funny or stupid, just join us.

The door is open and the walls have ears. That’s a big reason why I use a public forum instead of some private chat space.

None of us knew each other before…. we just came to Crustwood and found a friendly place….. and we’d like to welcome you too.

    Now that that’s settled…. can I borrow a cup a sugar?And… oooooh …. that cake looks pretty good….Do I smell pork chops?

Indeed Susan, I always knew that as these are OPEN comments (not private messages) it makes the site more fun and (although I never have anything really clever to say like you and others) I try to participate and share some of the experience that goes with my many years.********************************I just popped in for a minute and have not read any since before breakfast, will be back before bedtime.

Friends, another poster has been ‘banned’, for supposedly using the occasional ‘blue’ word here and there. He never received an email telling him that he was banned. Gweedo has been posting as long as I have, if not longer, and he’s a good guy. If you wish to write to GoComics on his behalf, he would sincerely appreciate it.Thank you for your time.

@Leaky, I hope that last was due to my 3rd son calling my FB comment “mean”. He emailed this morning ad appologised because I sent him an edited photo which he admits was greatly improved (Irfanview makes it so easy to color-correct or rotate photos that there is no excuse to post them without corrections). I try NEVER to be mean; SCA stresses courtesy!

I think I know that “certain someone” you are referring to, Leaky, and I’ve had my run-ins with him as well – but he was usually the instigator. Many others went out of their way to antagonize him. He should probably have been banned much earlier, but some of those others were as much to blame and should probably also have been banned. Perhaps some were.

There are plenty of people I no longer see any more, but I don’t know whether their absense is due to poor health, death or being banned.

Who is WW? Enlighten me please. Maybe I know and am slow on the “uptake”. I gather some of you were referring to Joe Allen. I know he angered a LOT of people, but I got to know Joe a bit, and over the years I have also learned not to be so judgmental because each person has their own path to walk, and “we” don’t know that path. Joe isn’t as bad as some think. And SOME around here tried purposely to attack him. Anyway, GWEEDO DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE BANNED! I don’t know what he did or didn’t do, BUT HE WAS ONE OF THE FIRST PERSONS I “SPOKE” WITH ON HERE, WAY BACK WHEN, and HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN A GENTLEMAN! AND PLEASE TELL ME NOW, WHAT THE NEW RULES ARE? NO ONE HAS TOLD ME, AND I’VE BEEN A PAYING MEMBER AND POSTER SINCE 2008!
