That is when I say “just pretend I am in the room” and go do something else.

Just the 2 of them yeah right.

As easy as pretending to be listening when she is talking.

I’m reminded of teenagers texting a friend while sitting across the room from her (gender intentional ;-)).

I;ve actually gotten up, grabbed a beer, drank it on the deck and returned to the coach to the salutation: “Why haven’t you responded to my texts?”. Sad and funny at the same time.

I think its rude to text while someone you love is sitting there.

I find it fun to text the wife from a different room, usually something totally off the wall. The results are always fun.

I think part of this joke is that he doesn’t really pay attention when she is talking, so she wonders why he is paying attention to her texting.

Give me some privacy, pretend I’m talking to you and ignore me.

Fans of Arlo and Janis might want to check out Rheta Grimsley Johnson’s most recent column. It’s titled “Toujours, Arlo and Janis” and is a very glowing commentary about her ex-husband Jimmy Johnson who, coincidentally, is the creator of Arlo and Janis. It appeared in our local Sunday paper but I found it posted on line.

Frankly I’m glad to hear that. It’s about time someone started to intrduce a little sense to the problem.

Janis, that’s unforgivable. You don’t do that to someone you love.

And I’ll pretend to listen, as usual.
