This Senator is bird version of Newt Gingrich.

Before Ted, the senator was modeled on Rep. Thomas “Tip” O’Neill, also from Mass.

It’s easier to drink yourself into a different way of thinking, than to think yourself into a different way of drinking.

I would like to have some of what Senator Belfry is having.

all politicians think like they have had a couple of drinks first.

Is it my imagination or does Senator Belfry look more and more like Newt Gingrich?

While it’s generally agreed that Jeff MacNelly had Tip O’Neill and Ted Kennedy in mind when he created Senator Belfry, I don’t think Cassatt and Brookins have ever stated who they’ve got in mind when the trot the character out these days (now that both O’Neill and Kennedy are history). Given the many reports of John Boehner heading straight from the House to the Bar, he’s a possibility.

Newt may drink, I don’t really know, but he isn’t a falling down drunk.

Rodney above is right… If one never thinks through an issue thoroughly, what are one, two, or 15 drinks to make a difference?

After millennia of humans trying to typecast “bad” people as some form of animal life, Newt, and yes, a couple others, now give the most maligned of those species “humans” to point to for being “low life forms”. And, I always associated the Senator with the even-tempered and often funny, Tip O’neil, who was always willing to be “friendly” to opponents. He had some class, even if on the floor!
