Funny thing about his wanting to wear a tie-doctors are now encouraged not to wear them, because they have been found to harbor germs that can be passed from patient to patient, etc. My grandfather was a doctor. He wore a white shirt, tie, and grey pants, even when he went out to chop wood at his summer home. I thought the outfit was like some sort of uniform. Once my mother tried to give him a pair of blue jeans. He angrily told her that the blue jeans were for “workmen” and not for him. She had to return them. Sunny is right. Glasses do nothing for a doctor’s image.

I immediately thought of the scene from Space Cowboys when they had the eye exam and how they all had memorized the chart.

Al Franken wears glasses, which would seem to uphold Sunny’s point.

John Lennon hated his glasses. Thought he didn’t look cool wearing them, and hated his seeming weakness of bad eye sight.

I only need glasses for reading, which means I have to carry them around most of the time instead of just wearing them all the time. It’s a nuisance, but not being able to read would be worse.

no, all you need for people to believe you’re a doctor is being a guy. If you’re a woman, people will not grasp the fact that you’re a doctor and not a nurse no matter what you wear or do.

Does anyone ever try address him simply by his first name? No one else is called by their full name unless they’re in trouble!
