Enlargement of this commercialized painting available from here; his works have appeared 3 times so far in Mr. Melcher’s blog. The title says it’s a halberd; not sure how it’s different from a spontoon — maybe the spontoon was an improvement on the halberd design.
I only like home made. Even back at our Christmas breakfast pot luck (and archery shoot) I only had the homemade goodies. I used more sugar in the ones I made for that so others would like them.
I guess when the artist says it’s a halberd, it’s a halberd, cos maybe he can see something we can’t.
But I’m with Baslim.
A halberd is a pole, with a long pointy metal tip like a lance, below which an axe blade sticks out to one side.
The blade is often elaborately curved, rather like a fancy kitchen chopper…… and on the other side of the pole there’s a thinner hooked blade that cuts on the inner curve.
A pike has a tip like the one in the picture - a forward pointing blade with sharp “wings” - but it’s about 20 feet long.
A half-pike (I don’t know the word spontoon) is shorter, a bit taller than a man.

You can’t fool me - that’s bloated movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, intimidating Oscar voters. Again.

And here I thought his sister just told him what happened after the barn dance.
In which case he was politely suggesting that you marry her.
