lucky ducky the poor little duck who's rich in luck in "expatriate games" mustache: how was your visit with your money, hollingsworth? hound: excellent! my money works so hard for the u.s.a. -- fueling the economy, creating jobs... i wish there was something i could do for it to show our appreciation. mustache: well, your money could certainly use a vacation! hound: that's it, stillson! i'll send it on a well-deserved holiday! mustache: florida? puerto rico? hound: yech. too downscale! my money does not speak spanish! i've got it! sunny, beautiful beaches -- the cayman islands! and that is the only reason i have cayman island bank accounts and companies! press: it's got nothing to do with upper-class tax avoidance? hound: my money and I are patriots, sir! in fact, it's the lower class that's been traipsing off to foreign lands... ...spending their u.s. money offshore, getting special tax breaks! aha! here comes a poor duck, just back from a tour! where were you, and did you leave any assets?! ducky: iraq, and i left a leg! hound: see?! lucky ducky!

Multinational (or ‘global’) corporations’ reason for being is not to ‘create jobs’ as their servants the R’s try to keep reminding us; it is to return a profit to their stockholders (in whatever sector, including finance, AKA ‘manipulating symbols’), and it had better be more than last quarters’ profit, or heads will roll. Thus if there are labor costs, those must be minimized, usually meaning offshore or ‘third-world’ labor, until Americans can be convinced to work for a dollar-a-day like those in other countries. If automation is involved, the labor cost becomes a smaller part of the equation, and the clever manager can skim off a larger part of the returns, with a healthy bonus. We must all own lucrative robot slaves immediately, to support us!

Sheer genius! When you are brilliant you are brilliant but those superpack fun comics suck.

Romney defends his Swiss bank account and Cayman Islands account by claiming those deposits were made by a “blind trust” that acted without his direct knowledge. That explanation is worthy of a cartoon treatment just by itself- pity the poor man whose money has a disability!

Wait, will Lucky Ducky be one-legged from now on? Will he be progressively whittled down as he gets luckier?

And the superpak fun comics are my favorite.

I like the superpak fun comics, too – dripping with satire. BTW, news.yahoo.com/comics has not shown this week’s “Tom the Dancing Bug.” It just keeps running the previous week’s strip.
