we'd like to listen to some music produced after 1979.
what?!
Its weird for us to go to school talking about Teena Marie, Heatwave and Parliament Funkadelic.
It would be nice to hear an actual rap artist.
ok....you can have Kurtis Blow.
… so they want hear something after 1979, OK …“Money for Nuthin”, Dire Straits“Everybody wants to rule the world”, Tears for Fears“Saving all my love for you”, Whitney Houston1985
trekman: This is one of those strips in which the characters age, but at a slower rate than reality. Traditionally, they would meet their older versions and retire (except for the occasional flashbacks), but Sunni and Jo Jo are overdue and the twins just evolved without the punctuated stasis part.
COMPUTE ??Listen …I have in my possession some newspaper clippings of a week-long story arc with Joe trying to get toddler Sunny ready for preschool. One strip shows him putting her into “sweats” and she’s “thinking” (not being old enough to talk yet) “Yay! Comfort!” or some such.It gets to the part where he has to do her hair — and Joe screams, “MAYDAY! MAYDAY!”It culminates with Joe talking to the preschool teacher, who compliments him for being a father who at least tried to do his little girl’s hair. “How did you know?” he asks. She answers, “You left the comb in her hair!”And I keep these newspaper clippings, because when they came out, my little girl was the exact same age, and I was going through the exact same hassles!!… …. well … …… she graduated from UC Irvine last year …
cat lover 17: Or Leadbelly, Paul Robeson, Ethyl Waters, Lena Horne, and Nat Cole (and Natalie too, most of the time – especially the duet). And instrumentalists like Satchmo, Duke, Bill Basie, Lionel Hampton, Charlie Christian, Andre Watts, and the list goes on.
I can relate to this… I went to high school in the ‘90s and thought I’d keep rocking forever… then I was stunned when kids born in the ’90s called my favorite bands “old.”

Rap artist, isn’t that an oxymoron? RAP, retards attempting poetry.

….and Jojo was born in September 1998 ( I have the strip where he was born saved in a scrapbook). He looks more like a third grader than a teen.
