    In the corporate world there are no more secretaries. Decades ago when all the bosses began doing their own correspondence via email, the remaining former secretaries all became “administrative assistants”. And don’t expect them to get your coffee for you.

    @psychearer: I’m a legal secretary and proud of it. To paraphrase a sign I saw hanging in a government office, “‘Secretary’ is not a dirty word; otherwise, the title would be ‘Administrative Assistant of State’.” The word doesn’t define a person’s accomplishments in the position, and your perception of the word “secretary” doesn’t diminish me or my duties. To everyone who is offended by being called a secretary, I say it’s a word, people. Get over it.
