Years ago I worked for a guy who was of the Rita/PHB persuasion, and he used to drive the programmers nuts — especially as their area was right by his office. So they took 2 sheets of paper. On one they drew a star slash, on the other a slash-star (Can’t type the characters; the asterisks turn the text bold); and taped the papers up either side of his office door.
Those of us who knew anything about commenting code thought it was a great way to express their frustration — and the boss was too dumb to know what they’d done.
in theory it could work if you automate everything and run the company with minimal staffing in say recources and developements, better machines and faster machinery took my original job from three shifts to eventually one shift and a third of the work force
no just send all the work to India, cheap labor, crap service and product but hey it saves the company alot of money. That way they can lay off 90% of the AMERICAN workforce. The company i worked for went from 1200 AMERICAN workers to probably less than 200, all the jobs went overseas………so glad I was able to retire.
I always said that the company that I worked for, with 10 employees couldn’t make it without me, so when I was laid off they moved into a small building and if you call you get a recording to leave a message.
Back in the 90"s, I was refused a raise at the company I was working for, so I quit. They had to hire two people to do the job I had been doing! I had the last laugh – went to work at a company that valued my work.
I don’t think it’’s really calling them evil economic terrorists to state a simple reality in business. It makes more money for the people who make the decisions, so of course they will reduce costs in any way they can. It does NOT mean it’s moral, it just means that’s how the business world works

I love it that Dana can instantly read Rita’s mind.
