AM is knocked out? How would he handle this? Send out his dittos to find and confine her. Unless he is unconscious?? Looks like it might be. So who will control the "kittycatdirtyrat "? OK PT this is where you come into action. He knows her best. The control room is likely where she would try to reach. Can PT get any help from his girl friend? Is she capable of any action? These vessels are search and catch? PT can communicate with her from afar? Tell her what needs to be done. Without the dittos we are in a heck of a mess for Friday. Wowe is us.Blessed Be
Just noticed that the door opened left to right. The handle is on the right, so should have opened right to left? OK. Now what. Any of the followers know what a lakhne is?Blessed Be.
Almost thought I caught our esteemed artist in an error with the door handle until I realized that Petey literally tore the door off its hinges! I shoulda known my tired eyes were no match for Aaron’s attention to detail. :P
Okay.. As most of you (hopefully) already know, the first two Endtown volumes are now available from Jarlidium Press:http://www.jarlidium.com/preorder.htmlAs an added bonus for those ordering early, I’m offering two free signed bookplates, one for each volume. Simply contact me at aaronneathery@gmail.com with proof of puchase (your order #) and your mailing address and I’ll make sure you receive your bookplates asap.As mentioned before, good sales mean more Endtown books in the future.PS: Don’t forget that the Endtown minicomic is still available from me, personally, for the offensively low price of $2.50 and that many, many originals are currently available for sale. Contact me for details..
I think the door handle and hinge placement are a clue that Marx knew the door was going swing open, and he deliberately got hit. If the hinge were on the left side, it would have swung so it wouldn’t hit him. He wants to appear incapacitated to see what his guests do.
I’m begining to wonder if Petey has slipped a circiut or something. Suddenly he’s stressing big time. As for AM, I guess it’s just best to assume that you can’t pin him down in any area. He is completely unpredictable. I had begun to view Flask as less of a threat (sans zero gun) and had relagated her to the “mostly surly” corner. But she is (or was) a rocket scientist (literaly) so she could be capable of causing trouble.
Again, from yesterday, she could try to commandeer the ship and crash it into a colony, She could drop the PT on stray Topsiders or onto a colony. She could get into the larder and drink all the Australian wines. She could find Marx’s credit cards and spend 14 hours at online gambling sites. She could root through all of the trash bins and steal the best stuff for herself to auction off on Ebay. The possibilities are endless.
“If the door opens to the left, why does Marx go to open it with his right hand?”Closest free hand. His left hand is still putting the ditto ball in his pocket. From here, he could either cross over to the left and pull the door open as he goes, or he could free the latch with his right hand and switch hands to actually open the door. It’s also easier for him to face Holly and keep talking to her this way, instead of reaching with his left hand, which would turn his back to her.
AaronM is reaching to open the door normally.Petey broke the hinges as you can plainly see in panel 3. The broken hinges and the door frame latch are visible.
In panel 2 AaronM is implying that by using their imagination, an even better solution is possible.AaronM has always been eccentric but not deliberately bad.I think he is trying to guide our heroes into thinking to the long term.
The Google search I did does not leave much of a clue. Looks to me like it is a proper name in Yiddish? None of the translate algorithms I have access to can make heads or tails of it either.
I think Petey’s panicking because he knows Flask is mentally unstable and, also, that she probably sees herself as completely alone now (figuratively and literally). I doubt she would have any loyalty to anyone anymore, even Petey (who may have been the only one she’d be loyal to before all this), and it wouldn’t be completely beyond her to do something incredibly reckless if given the chance – even as bad as crashing Aaron’s ship on a Topsider base and killing all of them.
Of course, Flask could just be exploring the ship, sipping a latte, using the john, playing with dittos, sneaking out a cookie or something else completely innocent…
i remember it from my Jewish neighbors growing up and confirmed it with my nephew who went to a Jewish elementary school. It was not something you wanted to be called.
What is a yakhne?Marx has been hanging out with Devotees of Ayn Rand, sounds like.
Or his development stopped at about age 8. In the meantime worse trouble is looming.Flask is who knows where doing could be any amount of bad mischief.Petey knows her best and he is pretty alarmed.
Petey certainly had no intention of disabilifying AM, all he was interested in opening the damned door and getting the word out. He had no idea there happened to be an Aaron Marx in the way.
For a good definition of “yakhne”, try this link to a page from “The Joys of Yiddish” displayed on Amazon. While at one time it was a respectable name, today it’s not considered a compliment or even a very nice thing to be called, perhaps because of its connections to the Purim song “Yakhne Dvoshe” about an inept and ditzy woman.

Yakhne is an old Yiddish word for an uncultured person.
JanBic Premium Member over 12 years ago
Yakhne can be a proper name but it is usually a derisive term addressed to a woman.

Yup, the hinges are broken. AM didn’t know it was coming…..well, probably didn’t know. Will this be an “oh no, the pilot is unconscious” moment?

People seem to be assuming AM has been knocked out, but I don’t see any evidence that he’s lost consciousness.

I Love how it’s, “how could YOU morons allow this to happen?”. It’s always someone else’s fault, never your own.

I looked up the translation of yakhne – it came up as busybody or shrew.
The comment from Bronkster (4th in today’s list) points out that Petey ripped the door off of its hinges.
