In wintertime lone bucks gather together in what biologists call “bachelor groups” for safety. A few years ago a hunter here in Utah shot an antlered female mule deer. Very unusual, but not unheard of. Today’s strip made me think of that.
It would have been funnier (although inappropriate) if a pair of legs were sticking out from the bush or if a doe was waving over the fence… but cute enough word-play, I suppose.
