Irony of ironies; they invented the Chekov character as a spinoff of Davy Jones from the Monkees. They wanted someone (and I quote) “small, dark and cute.” Except, yeah, Russian,not Mancunian.

Ensign Chekov’s catchphrases are far more quotable than Anton Chekhovs.

I watch all the different Star Treks on netflix watch instantly. It’s great to watch a series from the very first episode. They are all great. But the original is still the best.

the only bar fight Scotty started was when the Enterprise was called a garbage scow. Fortunately he found a home for all his Tribbles.

Pavel Chekov was created when the Soviet media were complaining about there not being a Russian character on the show, and how that showed the arrogance of the Americans. Roddenberry apparently forgot about ANTON Chekov when he he named the character – he said. Gives a whole new interpretation of “Chekov’s gun.”

He should have just told him to let another cat use Bucky’s litter box. That would learn him.

I could swear the Enterprise blueprints for TMP had a special chamber for Medusan navigators to use… shielded from sight.
