In Oz we have immature clowns that throw rocks off overhead bridges targeting cars. It has caused serious injury but when these people are caught it just a slap on the wrist because of their age.
The Speed Trap is one of today’s emerging issues. Many small communities depend on these places for operating revenue. They are properly called “Speed Entrapments” because they are engineered in a way to make drivers speed.
Thanks, Mastroianni and Hart, for putting a serious problem in the spotlight. You are far better than mere funny pictures.

Speeding tickets bring out the absolute maximum possible level of blatant hypocrisy. The closest we seem to be able to come to honesty is, “Well, yeah, I was speeding, but …..”
Quincy, Illinois used to have the untimate speed trap – on 12th street (used to be US 24) where the street, coming down a hill, went under a railway overpass. Naturally, a car picks up speed going downhill – and the bridge blocked the view of the radar car!
And let’s not forget Mt. Sterling, Illinois. Their specialty used to be ticketing “rolling stops” at the 4-way stop on the main street (US 24) This was the county’s chief industry until DOT foods (and the prison) came in.

Question: If, in a school zone, my horizontal speed is near zero but my vertical speed is 500 km/h am I going to get a ticket?
