No, he is just intelligent and bored with the daily drudgery of elementary schoolwork…

Sometimes it’s tough to tell the difference between a stupid brat troublemaker and an intelligent bored overly-clever troublemaker.

Olsen needs to retire.

Odds are good that their levy will fail for the 4th time in a row, and they’ll slash a quarter of the teachers. Olsen has seniority and will stay. The class will double in size, and there will be no chance for Anybody to speak in class. The teacher’s union will, of course have to comply with this arrangement, as they will have been stripped of their collective bargaining rights.

Make Caulfield read Thomas Mann’s “Magic Mountain”.

And hasn’t Caulfield always been in Ms. Olsen’s class. I guess he isn’t smart enough to be promoted up to the next grade.

Gotta say, in the last panel, it seems like Frazz may be getting tired of Caulfield’s behavior as well.

And a good thing, too. If you had gone on participating you might have injured some of the other kids’ self-esteem, the nurturing of which is the whole point of going to school…isn’t it?

Polygon was gone because it o.d.’d on too many crackers! lol

Is it my imagination or does Frazz look like Calvin (from Calvin & Hobbes) grown up?

Mrs. Olsen secretly loves Caulfield’s antics, he keeps her on her toes and it’s always interesting.

Ms. Olsen CAN’T show that she admires the behavior in front of the class. Chaos would result because the rest of the students would try to do the same thing as Caulfiled. That would be really painful to everyone. Ever heard a 4-year-old try to tell a joke?
