It’ll take a whole book of matches to light allthose candles.

And when you consider the other eight lives, that’s a lot of candles marching by.

I think at fifty, the fire marshal would have to be called.

Never mind the candles, just set the cake on fire.

Just two more days, Garfield. Just two more days.

Next year just light the candles and use them to grill the steaks.

It beats the alternative.

He thinks that’s bad! There would be 7 times as many candles if they represented his age in cat years.

Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow creeps in its petty pace from day to day to the last syllable of recorded time. Or something like that.

He gets one of those number candles it would be less depressing them a bunch of little candles covering the cake.

@Shadow BeastHave to agree. Anything to blunt the realisation that there’s been a lot of water that’s flowed under the bridge.In youth, birthdays are kinda fun. As the years roll by, you just don’t want to be reminded any more.And you don’t want to incur any exorbitant psychiatric fees and shell out for an endless supply of Prozac (even though this would stimulate the economy for these guys) in thinking about it.

One of my friends had so many candles on his cake that they burned the icing and almost burned their condo down. I like having the number candles. They’re less of a fire hazard. lol

Wonder if those candles were all drawn by hand or cloned electronically.

It is 5 years for each human for cats….7 for dogs….

Our = own by my brother, his male friend and me.

Our 14 year old cat, Badger, is 68 in cat years and our 5 year old cat, Dooley, is 32 in cat years.

one of those bbq propane lighter thingies work great. or just buy a pair of those big wax number candles…

Oh, poor Garfield!The Classic Car Club of America maintains that a car must be between 20 and 40 years old to be a classic, while cars over 45 years fall into the Antique Class.

I don’t know about cats but non working dogs have a longer adolescence than we think. The 7 to 1 rule is not accurate.. Working dogs are introduced to adulthood very quickly. Any dog that at thirteen years wants to play has been denied adulthood (not necessarily deliberately) by its owner.

I think the same may apply to the way I was brought up. My mother would have kept me a child forever.

Awwwwww. Age is just a number, Garfield. That’s what I always say.

So Garfield’s birthday falls on Father’s Day this year.

The thing is this might be depressing because Jim Davis might be making these comics about how time flies and how he gets older
