Good morning, vagabonds. I’m finally listening to the DVD music videos that my Uyghur friend in Norway gave me. If you wanna hear/see what Uyghur music is like, google “Haji Akbar.”
BTW has anyone here ever followed “Winnie Winkle” in the past – like 40 years ago?
Never read (or heard of) Winnie Winkle. Sorry, Arye.
Got up to 84 yesterday. With the breeze we had all day, it was VERY comfortable! Supposed to be a tad warmer today. Up early so we can get to the Farmer’s Market early and get the good stuff. :)))
Watched “Soldier in the Rain” with Jackie Gleason and Steve McQueen. After the movie, both of us were in awe……Jackie Gleason sure was a mighty fine actor! Loved that man!
I remember Winnie Winkle, but just barely. Wasn’t it another “chick strip” like Apartment 3G and Mary Worth? Which, by the way is why I haven’t been commenting at FTE lately. I found that A3G and MW just didn’t interest me. I do like the Phantom and Mark Trail though.
BENITIN & ENEAS: Un ratĂłn en la casa! Hubiera sido menos costoso llamar a un exterminador. A mouse in the house! It would have been less expensive to call an exterminator.
@FLORCHI: Thanks for the Winnie Winkle excerts. I remember WW from the 70s and 80s, when she was drawn slighly differently. I have a photocopy of one strip where her son is trying to aim a gun to shoot someone (I don’t know who) and a lady bumps into him, spoiling his aim. I don’t know how this ends.
@FLORCHI: Speaking of Today’s Mutt & Jeff, I commented in the English version that there’s no such thing as “one” mouse as mice always live in communities. Someone commented after me that this takes care of THIS mouse. In that case, I wouldn’t recomment M&J repair the house until they get rid of the OTHER mice, if that’s how they try to get rid of mice.
I remember Winnie Winkle, but only because “Reminisce” magazine has reprinted some of the Sunday strips. They have a “When Sundays Were Funny” feature that reprints some of the greatest old strips, including the Dick Tracy strip where Sparkle Plenty was born (with long blonde hair down to her ankles).
I have anecdotes / stories about many critters I’ve met or seen, preferably the latter as a rule.Bears, cougars, coyotes & feral dogs (running together), mice, porcupines. If you live (camp) in their part of the country, you are going to see them. Hopefully, though, not meet them. I saw a lot of them, met a few.
I’ve never been here this late before. I’m up with a 100 degree fever. Oh, me. And I have to preach tomorrow. And the handbell choir is playing and they need me.
