Coming Soon 👀 At the beginning of April, you’ll be
introduced to a brand-new GoComics! See more information here. Subscribers, check your
email for more details.
Good morning, Slim and all you other Vagabonds. I fell asleep shortly after reading the Azcentral comics at Midnight and woke up a few minutes ago at 3 PM. I’ll go back to sleep as soon as I read my 10 or so GoComics.
HOLA@ Montana Lady: I just checked the Beach Cam and it looks a bit breezy. The wind is always stronger right next to the ocean. I have a picture taken after Hurricane Wilma of a car upside down in the parking lot of a Fort Lauderdale beachfront condo.I’ll be going over to the barrier island later today – to a library that is right across the street from the beach and then to visit friends in a beachfront condo to watch the Euro 2012 futbol/soccer semi-final on ESPN (Spain vs. Portugal)…Ole!
I got to sleep late this a.m…….9:00!!!! Woo Hoo!
Latest on that fire……….it is still burning in the upper elevations, But they managed to get the area near homes out! But, they lost 4 homes. And, there has been only one minor eye injury to a firefighter. They have emergency shelters for horses and other large animals, and so far, no injuries there either! Great news!!!!
The back country is still actively burning, and is only 20% contained. I’m afraid they will have to let that burn itself out as long as it doesn’t pose a threat.
Rita, back in 2003 during the big California wildfires, we did the same thing you did yesterday. We loaded up our motorhome with essential records, cherished momentos and the pets and waited for the evacuation order (we kept it loaded with clothes and food at all times then). The smoke was so thick around our house that we could barely breathe. The fire never got any closer than about 6 miles away, but it was really scary for a while there.
