That looks like a Bell 47 but has too many places. However, helicopters have required seat belt and/or harnesses for all crew and passengers. looks like he did not like being strapped in. a Terminal error.
I would like to ask a serious question that has nothing to do with todayâs strip: I donât really know the rules here, so Iâm not sure what happens if you âFlagâ someone. What does it mean, and what happens? Anyone wish to explain it, or just direct me to the explanation? Thanks.
Has anyone informed @Guard SGT ? I am amazed, reading his bigoted and hate mongering, vitriolic rants on Doonesbury and other politically themed strips, that he hasnât been flagged ( or maybe it should be flogged ) many times over. We are a little more tolerant on those sites of free speech.
@Gokie5 also: Thank you. Some commenters seem particularly angry and abusive; and one dropped the âF-bombâ over at Calvin and Hobbes today. Wasnât sure if I should do something. Is a polite warning to that poster a kindness, or just Flag them?
On the âtoon: Reminds me of days as a helicopter crew chief. It wasnât always easy to get folks to actually FASTEN their belts. OOPS! Of course on a Chinook one time, had to crawl outside to remove a sandbag from an engine inlet. My âbuddyâ had forgotten to hook my âmonkey strapâ into the floor, I didnât fall, fortunately, but we DID have an interesting âdiscussionâ.
Les would have been doing the agriculture report, so just getting closer to the crop.
Mightaswellbe: Aircraft commander in helicopters is right seat, crew chief behind him in a Huey. Thatâs also the side that the mirror is on for watching sling loads. In the event of a âhard landingâ or crash, rolling the rig right, onto the pilot side is also âSOPâ, heard that (protect the other guys) as part of the reason at one time, but as things kindaâ âcome apartâ, never saw a functional preference. In one case, we ended up with the mast between the pilot and copilot, which WAS interesting!
After âNam, I liked to fly fixed wing from the left seat (I wasnât the âofficial pilotâ) only because I was pretty deaf in the left ear(things that went âboomâ!"), and could only understand the radio on speaker with my right. Headphones cancelled that out.
âShot downâ six times, but donât panic, as your dustoff friend can attest, itâs not âpleasantâ but doesnât end (often) as in the movies, like the fuel bladders do a pretty good job of NOT having the classic, in the movies, fireball.
BTW, give a âwelcome homeâ to âdustoffâ. I volunteered to go to a CO dust off unit, but things changed, âviolence-wiseâ.
