Why do I get the impression that the world would be a better place if Monty went down with the Titanic now, before he has the chance to breed?

I must proudly say that Gordon Lightfoot is a Canadian legend, and The Wreck of the EF, based on an American Great Lakes freighter that sank in a Lake Superior storm on November 10, 1975, is one of my personal favorites. Apparently one of Monty’s as well, eh.

victonewman, yeah, that’s one of the coolest songs ever. It sounds like it could have been written hundreds of years before
it’s in a grand tradition of historical sea tales
I think those maps of Michigan that the state gives away, should have the picture of a sea monster in Lake Superior. With the words “Here be Monsters”. I just think it would be cool

(accompanied by an obviously stoned manic guitar strum)

It was midnight on the seaThe band was playing In a garda da vee’Farewell, Titanic, fare thee well

They wouldn’t let Jack Johnson on board,They said this ship don’t haul no po’Fare thee well, Titanic, fare thee well

(And then Jamie Brocket goes into a 20 minute oration about the captain who reads comic books and the First Mate who always carries 9 feet of rope and Jack Johnson the prizefighter who’s ticket was the wrong color, and the “IIIIIIIIIIIIIICEBURGGGGGG!” Ah, those 60’s were a good time. I think. From what I remember)
