MONKEY ORCHIDSBack when I was in Panama in the army, I hung out with orchid hunters (among other groups). I’m sure I have some pictures of this species from down there somewhere in my slide collection. I’m pretty sure the orchid they called the Monkey-faced Orchid is the same one.A big tree fell in the forest and they were all over it looking for interesting, rare orchids. It was sort of rain forest but because there was a dry season when a lot of trees shed a lot of leaves, technically probably not one.

Let’s not be too catty to GatoCat ( that is a bit redundant, don’t you think – sort of like CaballoHorse or PerroDog?). Some people don’t have as firm a grasp on their insanity as others … er. I meant a grasp on their imaginations.And to 3hourtour, I say watch out how you speak about the ladies or you’ll find yourself all washed up.

You can make soda in any flavor, but it still holds no appeal for me. You can make vodka in any flavor as well, but I will Still go for unflavored.

RE:blog … IMHO Jeremy (Skip) Lipking is one of todays greatest painters. The man just can’t paint a bad canvas … at least I’ve never seen one.

Ms. Teresa, I just recalled what the late Marty Feldman once said ( more or less ): I never eat any creature that has an intelligence but I do dine on Television Producers and Politicians.

After that remark – you are lucky the women don’t know where you live. Or maybe they will get together and ‘hunt’ for you.

The policewoman on the blog is Leola King of Washington, DC. She was the city’s first police woman (apparently earlier female police employees were regarded as social workers). She was hired as an experiment to see if women could replace men as police officers during WW I. As the picture was taken in November 1918, and we already had about 30,000 women in uniform, the “experiment” was a bit pointless. There’s more about her here:
