We’ve had the craziest weather here in east Wisconsin, halfway up between Milwaukee and Green Bay, near like MI. Last Sunday we had a high of 93; by Tuesday, high was 70. No tomatoes yet!
Have one tiny green one so far in Cheyenne – palnt came from a friend’s grrenhouse about 5-6 weeks ago. Harvest is usually in a race with the first frost.
On her book tour, Michelle Obama has been talking up how much children enjoy veggie feasts straight from the garden, especially veggies that they helped grow.

Weakstream: We are already giving radishes away. May have lost two cornstalks in the last windstorm (currently propped up and hoping, better than most hackberries in town which are split wide open). Big green tomatoes, but I planted seeds rather than started plants.
As Dave Barry once pointed out, all you need to do is read those helpful guides they print right on the package of seeds: If you live in Georgia, you should plant your seeds in the ground; if you live in Maine, you should plant your seeds in Georgia.

Probably not too early in any southern states. We’ve had all those vegetables for weeks now at the local farmer’s markets.

Oh gee, the world is bigger than my eyes can see? Why wasn’t I told? Of course, I wouldn’t believe it, but I should have been told. Sheesh

I’m in NC and I still don’t have any ripe tomatoes. Several on the vine, but all still green.

I’m harvesting about 2 pints of strawberries everyday now…

Gardening is fun and relaxing; especially in the early morning when it’s still cool outside and the ground is moist with dew.

Doesn’t it seem Grandma is tremendously good at everything?

In the South, don’t they enjoy fried green tomatoes. (No, not the movie.)

Gardening, even a little plot can be so rewarding.

I’m getting a few cucumbers, but tomatoes are all still green. Probably get them starting about July 4th.

Grandma has the most time for gardening and likely the largest garden as well.
