SUSAN NEWMAN: Yesterday I asked you in Hebrew what was the name of the kibbutz where you peeled potatoes and told you that my kibbutz was Dovrat near Afula. I stayed there for 6 months, learning Hebrew in an Ulpan 1/2 a day and working for a 1/2 a day.

Well, if I were a rooster, I’d be ornery, too, if my harem had suddenly disappeared — roosters can’t exactly take a cold shower every time they’re in the mood, after all!

UMmmm sounds like Uncle Vern could empathize with the rooster…for some reason. lol

No feminism here. Women (3) doing the “women’s work” and the men doing the farming.

Poor old rooster, though! Just acting on his instincts, after all.

I lived in the upstairs of a farmhouse when I was small. In the yard was a mean, nasty rooster I was scared to death of. I told my older brother about it and he said he’d do something about it. One night we were all eating chicken for supper. My brother, being a big tease, said: “Remember that mean rooster. Will, I killed him-and now we’re eating him.”

I wonder when “Lizzie” will become “Lizard Breath”. Probably sometime shortly after Micheal’s 9th birthday.

When we visited my folks, I’d send Daryn out to the hen house to gather the eggs. Once, he reached under one to get an egg and got pecked on the arm.He came back in the house – “That chicken bit me!!”

hausof7mau: Not likely. A hawk can’t carry away a grown chicken but would eat it there or drag it a short distance, leaving visible remains. Pigs are a likely suspect or something in order Carnivora, if there are any in that part of Canada.

That poor rooster!!!!! :-(

I agree, why did they just accept all of the chickens vanishing. It is an odd and sad story for Lynn to share.

So… ONE guy treats you badly, and you decide that every other person in the world who is Jewish is just as bad? Merely because they’re Jewish?
