@LX013: I think you accidentally made a joke! You intended to say “sweet” but you wrote “sweat,” and Lucy is sweating in the first strip – just like Calvin is sweating in today’s strip.

@LX013: “Don’t sweat it.” (That’s an American expression that means, “it isn’t worth worrying about.”)Good morning over there in Austria. You had a better time zone for watching the Olympics than we had here in the U.S.

    Indeed, you would be DEAD… that’s the boiling point of water! 100 d. F = just under 38 d. Celsius. 212 d. F = 100 d. C.

@Hobbsey A personal story:My mother was a grade school teacher and had oodles of patience. She taught my siblings and I to read at the age of three. She taught us using Peanuts comics in the newspapers. She died in 2005 after a long battle with Alzheimers.Every time you post Peanuts strips, it takes me back…way back…and causes me to remember fondly my mother. Thank you very, Very, VERY much for that daily reminder.I view it as a special, poignant gift.

@Vonne Anton: Thanks for telling us that story. Was Peanuts your mother’s favorite strip? I discovered Peanuts and some other comic strips when I was eight years old, so Peanuts brings back my childhood also. I learned quite a few difficult words from cartoonists (but didn’t always know how to pronounce them), and the comics were highly instrumental in helping to develop my sense of humor. I strongly recommend going to visit the Charles Schulz museum in Santa Rosa, California. It will bring back a lot of childhood memories. Also go to the ice rink that the Schulz family built (across the street from the museum), and have a chocolate chip cookie at the coffee shop there. Sit at a table by the fireplace, next to the “reserved” table where Charles Schulz sat each morning for so many years. Here is the Web site for the museum:Click here: Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research CenterBy the way, I expect to be posting less frequently beginning in September, because I have a major commitment coming up, but I’ll still post some comic strips periodically. Glad you especially enjoy the Peanuts strips.

Other than Suzie, a bully, his parents (they really don’t count) and a stuffed doll; where are his friends? Is this an indication of the reason for his enormous imaginary world? He’ll end up hidden in a top notch university rediscovering string theory, quarks and dark matter.

That is an interesting perspective. How do they see us? Imagine a hairless dog or cat. Personally, I think fur is more attractive. BTW: Tigers have it covered, they have striped skin.

Both Calvin and Hobbes are wrong in their attitudes. Many animals have fur. Humans have hair.Every creature is made the way it’s supposed to be, at least it was in the original creation. With the fall of man and the resultant curse, there has been some deterioration and alteration.

Cats fur and skin allow them to have a much higher tolerance for heat than you might imagine, hence their prediliction for sleeping on top of radiators, etc. At the age of 68, boy would I like to be able to go into REM 4 sleep….

@orinoco womble,From what I’ve heard and read, all of Spain is “in the frying pan” as far as finances are concerned. I hope it’s not affecting you too adversely. Do you think people will be willing to “tighten their belts” and do what it takes to extricate themselves out of the mess in which they are?
